Rising junior, looking for schools strong in economics. I don't think I have that great of a chance at ivies so I'm looking for good schools that aren't extremely hard to get into. I'm open to your suggestions for safeties, reaches, and matches.

Vague stats:
-Expected to receive 2000 on SAT1.
-Very rigorous courses 9th/10th grade but I don't have my schedule for my junior year yet.
-Average EC's
-Approx 3.7 GPA UW
-Asian American
-Lived abroad for 6 years but recently moved back to the U.S.
-Recent school was a prestigious private school.

Michigan, Wisconsin, NYU, Rochester, Carnegie Mellon, Maryland, Boston University. Carnegie and Michigan and NYU are probably reaches, with the rest being matches

Cornell is prob. a match for you. Their Applied Economics program is known for being in the top 15 business schools in the country and is very easy to get a high GPA, as said by students who go there. What can be better? Top economics program with a 4.0 GPA. YEARGHH! Law school perfect. Based on the AEM's admission stats (though acceptance rate is around 12%) you are a match for it, though they place big emphasis on essays.

You should be looking at schools within the [USNWR] top 20-40 range for matches in terms of selectivity. Maybe venture as high as 15 for a big reach but your scores probably won't cut it at the highly selective privates.

i would agree with you (beefs) that cornell is a high reach as well, but I'm still at the primary stage of looking at colleges so I'm keeping my options open. Thanks for giving me a general range on the list. I'll definitely look into those schools. My predicted score for the SAT 1 is a vague guess. I'm aiming to reach 2200/2250 so maybe that will give me some more options.
