OK i finally made an account to post my questions

I am from new york attending community college. at the end of this spring semester ill have around 55 credits…and i need 64 to get my associates in Liberal Arts.

if i were to transfer to an out of state school, should i defiantly complete my associates? and do you think my credits would transfer okay?

now on to the next set of questions.
I was hoping someone could give advice on how get instate tuition.
I am not claimed on this years taxes, therefore i am independent and would look into start establishing residency. Ive seen a broad amount of answers and need a CORRECT idea of how long it will actually take.

For the record, I am an dependent of a 100 percent veteran and receive chapter 35 benefits. Could i benefit in any way by being a dependent of a veteran? any scholarships or financial aid perhaps?i understand theres some program in ca but im sure its only for residence…so can i do the program after im granted residency ?

any information would be great!

thanks you <3

Completing the Associate’s degree is not going to affect your eligibility to transfer one way or the other. Since you are posting here, I assume you are interested in transferring to the UCs. In order to be eligible for transfer admission consideration, you MUST complete the general education and major prerequisite requirements as outlined at [University of California - California community college transfers](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/transfer/requirements/community-college/index.html).

I believe dependents of disabled veterans may be exempt from the OOS tuition. But this is a very specialized question and only the registrar or financial aid office will be able to give you an accurate answer.

I appreciate the information, very helpful. And i was curious about dependents of disabled veterans OSS tuition exemption. Though from what i researched its only for active members, and they have to be stationed in CA.

tooadd- If i ever do gain residency, I could get my tuition waived, under the CalVet program.

There is a contact person at each UC campus designated to answer any veteran related questions. You can find the list of contacts at [url=Home | Veterans]California Veterans Education Opportunities Partnership/url.
