Looking to transfer

Hi, I'm new here. I'm a freshman at a pretty good school IMO (Catholic Univ.) and I might be looking to transfer at the end of the year (not likely) or at the end of next year (more likely).

Here are my stats

HS:
GPA-3.14 (Started out with a 2.5 freshman year, then 3.36 soph and junior, and 3.5 senior).
SAT-570(W)/510(M)/630(CR)
ACT-23

4 years wrestling
3 years student council
Former tutor
Also played football and did track.

Here's my college stats:
Current GPA after one semester: 3.54
I took courses in Philosophy, American Gov't, English, Computer Science, and Spanish last semester.
I also work 10 hours + per week tutoring at two different sites in Washington, either in a classroom or in a one-on-one setting.

I'm looking to be a political science major with a goal of getting into a really, really good law school. I was thinking a number of schools. Villanova, Rutgers (NJ naitive) as a few.

Now, my "dream" schools would be GWU, BC, ND, Bucknell, NYU, and of course Georgetown. I was wondering if I had any shot in the dark at transfering to any of those schools at the end of the year if I kept my GPA up (I'm hoping to get at least a 3.8 this semester, which I believe would average it out to a 3.69), or at the end of next year if I continued to improve. If there are any other schools that might fit into this category or in the Nova/RU category that I would have a shot to get into I'd be open to any suggestions.

Any advice would be greately appreciated.

Your chances to top schools at the moment are spotty at best given your frankly dreadful high school record and low test scores. If you must transfer, you would be better off waiting a year so your high school record would be less heavily scrutinized.

Right now, any of your dream schools are going to be big big reaches. Your HS GPA and SATs are going to play a big role as a freshman applicant, and they're not quite there.

I say, work on getting your record up for next year. Maintain a 3.7+ GPA and stay involved on capus. You may also want to consider taking your standardized tests again. Even with great grades over two years of college, a 1710 SAT is going to keep you out of places like BC, ND, GTown and NYU.
