Today I found out that one of my classmates died today of a drug overdose. Drugs are a pretty big thing in my school, and I just really hope that this incedient helps his friends see the reality of it all. It seems like every year there is a death in my school. (not always drug related.)

Does your school have things like this happen? Was it drug related? How did the students cope. Since this happend during the summer I don't think that our school will be doing anything about this.

It's just incredibly sad. I know this individual and his friends, and I always knew that it would end up ruining their lives if they didn't get ahold of their problems. I just never really thought that any of them would die from it.

Last year we had 2 kids died. One was one their way home from school withher sister and mom. they got in a major car crash and I think only she died. The other was racing on his motorcycle. he got hit by a car almost right in front of my house. This year, we had no deths (thank God), but my school has a lot of deaths. We've came close a few times. We go to school in the ghetto (really good magnet school though) and locals decided it would be fun to take bats and hit students cars with them WHILE THEY WERE DRIVING. At a local school, one died of a brain anurisum (sp?) and another died by getting a pole shoved through his head (seems a lot like final destination type thing). ...Now I don't feel safe...

I went to a small school (my graduating class had 58 people in it), so we had fewer student deaths... there was one of an alum who'd graduated in 2006 year due to a car crash (probably drunk driving). The last one before that was a girl who also died as a result of drunk driving. That seems to be the biggest killer... pretty sad considering how easily that can be prevented :(

We lost someone to a car crash. No drugs or alcohol involved. It was sadly just a loss of young talent. Thankfully, I wasn't very close to this person but I was touched at how this loss seemed to temporarily bridge some of the many social gaps that afflict my school.

One guy lost his gf from a different school to a drunk driving accident. One of my friend's brother's died after getting drunk and crashing into a tree at over 100mph. Last year a guy crashed his crotch-rocket into the side of a barn running from the cops. It exploded, killing him instantly. Then a few months later a guy overdosed on crack and died sitting in his car.

At my school, a few years ago, a group of guys were driving around at lunch time, and they lost control of the car, and there were some deaths. Two years ago, one of the junior IB students killed himself.

We lost two students to gang-related violence this year: one was shot while biking to a friends house (he was mistaken for somebody else and was not in a gang) and the other was killed execution-style in a gang war. It's not unusual to lose one student to gangs, but two was shocking, and they were within one month of each other.

For every person that dies today, 10 people will be saved in the future, according to Stanford population scientist Paul Ehrlich. Overpopulation will lead to resource wars and mass famine, so death now isn't necessarily bad--it's the cloud's silver lining.

One death this year, but 3 other people in the car were injured. It was a big deal because the kids were popular and everything. What is weird is her myspace is still up and stuff like that.

Crud? I haven't heard that word since about the 4th grade.

How is drugs and murder a load of "crud"? People have died at my school from drugs. We've had a few people over the years die of overdosing. Its not as rare as you'd think. We've also had a few people die in drug related accidents. 3 people died when their car hit a tree while hill-hopping. Don't insult people and claim that they're lying just because you've never experienced that stuff.

We lost at least one guy to drugs, another was killed on his bike, and a carload of kids hit a tree at 100 mph. There wasn't much left of them. There was a nonfatal stabbing that I know about, and one teacher committed suicide at Christmas time.
