Lost in the Major Selection

I posted on here earlier this year about this. A little background I am going to a Junior at UCSB studying Microbiology with a concentration in Genetic Engineering. I would like to go to Medical school. I have a 3.64 gpa it will likely continue to increase. I know that Microbio doesn't do me much good if I don't get into medical school or graduate programs as far as getting a job. And if I don't get into medical school I'd like to go to grad school and maybe work in a lab. Right now I plan to graduate with at least a 3.8 at UCSB.

I have all A's in my pre med courses only missing 2nd half of Physics and 2nd half of Orgo

My problem is I am trying to select a major from these. Continue with Microbio, switch to chem or switch to Math

Problems with each option:

Microbio: If I don't get into medical school or grad school I am not very good position as far as a career goes. That and I think I might slowly be losing interest though I haven't completed any upper division bio classes, so interest might spark again.

Chemistry: Again if I don't get into med school or grad school I am not in a very good position as far as career goes. I absolutely love chemistry though hands down favorite subject. I've also heard that even after completing grad school it is very hard to get a job. I would have to take a summer class right before medical school to graduate and I don't think they like when you do that.

Math: I would have to get a BA to graduate in two years. If I wanted to go to grad school for math I would be missing real analysis and that would mess up my GRE subject score a decent amount from what I've read. I don't feel like spending another year in college to complete it, that would be 7 years for BS because I changed my major 3 times. If I do get a degree in Math I can't really apply to the bio grad programs anymore from what I've read because I don't have a lot of the upper divisions done, whereas if I do chemistry I still can. This option is by far the best if I do not get into grad school or med school.

I have NO idea what to do or what to chose. I'm constantly being told "do math, do math" I like it and all but I've completed calc I, so far I have no idea how its going to be later on. Being 21 still having no idea what you want to do is getting very old.

Being a microbio major is the only route that allows me the whole summer to study for the MCAT as well.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I suppose if I don’t get into medical school I could just switch from BA in math to BS in Math and take another year part time and study for the GRE because I would have to do that anyway.

But for some reason I have a feeling its going to be much harder to get A’s in math classes than in these bio classes.

You may not get into the best med school in the country, but chances are you can get into a med school and assuredly a grad school with your stats (dependent on those MCAT scores). The lower level classes are the hardest and arguably the least interesting. But if you’re losing interest, there’s a LONG way to go before becoming a doctor so that perseverance may be an issue. There’s a growing biotech industry, so that genetic engineering minor could help you with job prospects in that field. Also remember, job prospects are important, yes, but you need to follow your passion. IF you love what you’re doing, you’ll find a job. Especially considering you have a useful major as-is. If I were you, I’d stick with your current major, finish your degree, go to grad or medical school, and continue from there.
