Lost regarding app

Out of nowhere, Brandeis sent me a Blue-Ribbon application to my email account. I looked at it, saw that there wasn’t a fee and that I would get a reply in February, and thought it was very appealing, so I did it. But what is it? How did Brandeis even consider me a “blue-ribbon app”? I was extremely flattered, but I am wondering if it is just some trick to increase apps?

Also, for all the people that did complete the blue-ribbon app, what else is needed to be turned in? CSS profile? FAFSA? Parents 2004 tax returns?

I heard it was a way to increase apps from good candidates--but if it is free and you get an early response and Brandeis appeals to you-- you have nothing to lose by applying.
