Loved the school, but

i’m a junior who’s thinking about applying to BU in the fall. i visited the campus about a week ago, and i loved it. great atmosphere, beautiful city, and the campus was lovely. i only had two small concerns, and although they may seem trivial to most people, they were pretty important to me.

first of all, on our tour in one of the dormitories, our tour guide mentioned that some of the rooms have no laptop reception. this seemed more than a little concerning to me. how can you not use your laptop in your own dorm? i wanted to know if anyone else has or had this problem, and what they did/are doing about it. i just can’t really fathom living in a dorm with no reception for me to be able to use my laptop.

secondly… this is going to sound beyond weird and ridiculous, but… the elevators scared me. i have a huge phobia of elevators; i’m terrified every time i go on one. in the dormitory i visited, stairs were available, as i hope they are in every dormitory, but if i’m living on the tenth floor, taking the stairs every day would be more than a little tiring. so what i wanted to know is, have any of you students at BU witnessed an elevator malfunction in your dormitory before? also, would it possible for me to recommend a dorm on the second or third floor? thank you! :)

There is no WIRELESS laptop reception. You can use a LAN cable and use your laptop that way. Yes, its inconvenient, but internet goes faster using a wired connection. You can used wireless in the common room and around the school.

Elevators do malfunction sometimes, but they usually get taken down for repair - which is annoying >_<… also FYI in warren towers - the first floor is the 4th floor so 10th floor isn’t too too bad to walk up to.
