Hi CC,
I want to work on my grades this year. I normally get low/mid As (92-96), even when I think I studied at a "100" level. I had 95 averages in almost all of my classes last year, (except LA:98, and electives,100) and even though those aren't bad grades, I know I can do better. For math, I know it is a matter of doing a lot of practice problems (my tried and true method to getting 100s on tests). For Science, I don't know how to do better. Everyone says its a matter of memorization, but I never know what is important information, and how to apply what I have learned to [science] test questions. I need a specific method on how to study enough information or how often I should look over the information, or how far ahead I should learn--just something that will help. Do any of you A+ science experts have any study methods you can share? How do you study the day or week before a test? How often do you look at the info you need to know?

Also, if you can, please comment any good articles or (answered) CC threads that relate to my situation with a link. Thanks!

You see, you unfortunately posted this thread in the AP Sciences forum (aka college-level science classes), and because I replied to one of your other posts, I now know that you’re a rising 8th grader. As a result, because other CC’ers see this kind of thread in regard to AP sciences as a joke, the replies are rather low (or 0).

I don’t really remember how I did in middle school science, but my advice is don’t just study the notes that your teacher provides. Go through the textbook, read the chapter and answer the extra practice questions. Also, use online resources and videos to learn the concept to the fullest extent. Only then will you be able to guarantee the A+. Also, speaking from a high schooler’s point of view, don’t procrastinate studying. It’s easier said than done, but try to start good study habits now, while the risk is low. When you’re a junior in high school cramming for 6 AP’s the week before AP tests, it will be too late. I don’t say this to intimidate you, but rather, to advise you as an older and wiser (lol) student.

Whoops! I meant to put this under High School Life. I am sorry for any of the confusion I have caused…lol

Thank you @EngineBus2015 for understanding and responding to my post despite the mistake I made putting it under this category. :)

If you aren’t in high school yet, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Find out first if your transcript shows percentages or only letter grades. If it only shows letters, then make sure that you receive As and fully understand the content and you’ll do fine. At the middle school level, a 95 most likely represents stupid mistakes, and is not indicative of a lack of knowledge. Do know that high school will get harder though, and it will require more work to maintain grades you may easily receive now.
