Dear all who complain about not being able to find something to do,
If you aren't self-motivated and give up after a few days of looking, OF COURSE you will not find anything good. Personally, my college GPA is as low as can be (I'm probably going back home and attending a CC next year). I obviously had no recommendations for the internship programs I first came upon.
Here is how I got lots of internship offers: I went on craigslist. I went through EVERY MAJOR CITY, and looked at job offers. If there were internship postings, I submitted my resume/ a cover letter (I had a few jobs in the past, one of which was a marketing job, which probably helped). Then, I looked through job postings that were made by start-up companies. These people generally wanted qualified individuals, but did not have the financial resources to pay them the salaries the potential employees wanted. I submitted my resume/ cover letter explaining that although I may not have all of the qualifications they desired, I would accept a lower salary and, due to my previous work experience, be knowledgeable in the basic areas of the job.
I did this for about 2 weeks. Over half of the companies didn't even reply to me. Another quarter flat out rejected me. Out of the ones that were left, a few made offers after some telephone interviews. Although I am from CA, I ended up getting two solid offers in DC - thankfully a sorority sister let me stay with her family there. Along with some babysitting, I'm making over 800$ a week total. I'm flying myself out to Europe at the end of the summer. I can buy anything I want.

Please all stop complaining that there are no opportunities out there. If you don't look for it, you won't find ****

That is all.
