Well yea...I wasn't really aware of the importance of my sophmore year till late in my junior year, which somehow the first semester got messed up due to switching classes in the middle of the semester

Now things are looking much better this semester and I'm going to have at least a 3.1 GPA if not higher...
I take 8 classes and by the end of high school I will have had enough credits to fufill 5 years of high school...
I'm in band and Jazz band at my school...also taking AP stats and Adv. English...
and this semester I was also in a play one of the hardest for High schools I might add, Les Miserables
by the end of high school I will of had 8 years of badn counting jazz and band as two years

I was wondering my chances, if any, of getting into UC San Diego, UC Santa Cruz, or UOP...

I did screw up with my GPA still haven't taken my SAT or SAT 2's... But I'm hoping there will be a way to get into these schools
also...any suggestions to boost my chances of getting accepted

I really really hate to break it to you, but that GPA will not not really be good enough for UCSD. sorry. but UC Santa Cruz is a maybe. Just do good on ur SAT's and SAt 2's. and make sure you write a good essay.

well I do have way above the number of credits needed...by the end of senior year your suposed to have 240 credits I think...I'm gonna have 300...
Would doing a lot of community service improve my chances?

Not really, but do a lot of community service if you like it and actually want to help your community. Remember, college is only harder, and they want to accept people who can handle it..

You'll get into UOP. As long as it's not the pharmacy school (though I could be wrong)...I think the average at UOP was a 3.0unweighted with a 1150 on the SATs (old, obviously).

Ok this might make you feel a little bit better...i know it helps me a little. There is this girl who got into UCD,UCI,UCSC and UCR with a 960 sat score. She got an F in ap bio and never retook the class and none of her sat II's exceeded 550. I know another person who got into UCD with a 1020 sat score a D in chem from his soph yr(which he never retook) and his gpa was like a 3.3. So there is still hope...Good Luck and we'll see where you get in next spring!

dont worry, i have the same problem. im at the end of my sophomore year and so far its been ok (by my standards.. by this forum's standards it's been disastrous): D, D, D, D, A, A, A, B are my averages so far.
anyway, this doesnt stop me from working on getting into world class universities such as Cambridge and Oxford, Cornell and UChicago.
thing is, i can still make it if i get great grades on my IB.
so worry not, all you have to do is work at it. which you are doing. so, my advice is.. keep working at it. which isnt really helpful at all.
oh well.
