My unweighted GPA is probably going to be around 3.6 when I apply to colleges, maybe a little higher. My weighted GPA is only 4.3-something, but it may increase after this new semester. Can I still get into a good college?

"Can I still get into college?"

3.6 UW? How do you expect yourself to get into college with that abominable number?

The simple answer is yes. Colleges look at you as a whole, not a GPA.

I definitely wouldn't say your gpa is low. low is like sub 3.0. Don't think because you get a few b's and maybe a c that you won't get accepted anywhere. Remember, colleges look at you as a whole person, so if you have good ec's and high test scores, even if you have a 3.2 you still have a good chance at admission to high end schools.

oy vey.......only on CC.......

Is this post serious?

Sure, 3.6 is low for Harvard.

For most colleges, it's average.

I have a 3.7 UW and a 3.75 Weighted

LOL a 3.6? Wow that sucks. I wouldn't even bother with community college because with a 3.6 GPA you're sure to flunk out.
Get real people

For most colleges, a 3.6 is high.

omg you got a 3.6?! that's a CC fail!! good job, now you won't get into any good colleges

Wait how is a 3.6 bad?

^ it's called feeding the trolls

what is that?

I see that here on CC, everyone freaks out for a 3.7 even 4.0s calling it "low GPAs"

or low SATs being "2,000"

what the heck man?

it's all relative. go to any number of sites that let you input your data and then return an array of schools whose admission profile you match. Don't like those schools? Then your numbers are low. Satisfied with the list? Your numbers are fine.

trolls = people who make non-serious posts just for the attention, or "teh lulz" in their words.

feeding them means replying to their posts (and in essence humoring them).

the OP here I'm betting is either a troll, or partially insane, so in either case the responders are just humoring the kid with their posts. that's why we're saying it's really bad and using lots of sarcasm.

maybe you should check if your sarcasm detector is working

I wouldn't assume the OP is a troll. A 3.6 means different things at different schools. In This age of grade inflation, it's not even top 20% at many high schools.

Then add in that many kid's idea of a "good" school is an ivy. Most 3.6's won't get into one.

So without a rank and definition of good, it's just an impossible question to answer.

O man. 3.6... that's tuff. I really hope you can get into community college. Good Luck!

useless thread.

my sarcasm detector is pretty low right now...

^^can a 3.6 get you into a low-ivy???or equal ?

I think it can get you to Dartmouth
