Low Ivies' Econ vs. non-ivy top business schools(Undergraduate) in I-banking

low-ivies(not harvard, like Columbia, Brown, Yale, etc.)'s economics programs vs. non-ivy top business schools(Ross, Hass, Stern, etc.) in terms of the placement in I-banking?(disregard the abilities of the students)

it's all ABOUT the students themselves.

The schools don't really play a huge part when it's dartmouth vs. ross

but many people say prestiges are very important, arent they?

As long as the non-ivy top business school has BB firms recruiting directly from it, it's not the schools problem, but the students.

Haas undergrad Business school was ranked #3 by US News. Only MIT and Wharton were ahead.

I think it's Wharton, then HYPSM, then a tie for other ivies and top business schools like Stern, Hass, Ross

Completely agree with Redhare and Untilted. As long as the program is very well-respected (which the ivies and top-notch business programs are), the rankings/perception doesn't play into factor. It's all up to the individual to succeed at that point.

Liangsheng, Cal and Michigan are very highly regarded and very prestigious. Those two universities are as highly regarded as the Ivy League in most educated and elite circles. Just look as their peer assessment scores:

University of California-Berkeley = 4.8/5.0
Columbia University = 4.7/5.0
Cornell University = 4.6/5.0
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor = 4.5/5.0
University of Pennsylvania = 4.5/5.0
Brown University = 4.4/5.0
Dartmouth College = 4.4/5.0

As such, even Econ majors at Cal and Michigan are on equal footing as Econ majors at say Brown or Cornell. In fact, I'd say that Ross students are probably at an advantage over Brown or Dartmouth students when it comes to IBanking opportunities.

To get a good idea of how ibanks regard certain schools, go to the schools' career services websites and check out the placement stats. This is a little more difficult for the ivies because they generally don't release comprehensive placement stats, but it's usually quite easy to find for top business schools.
