I am currently a Junior, who goes to a high school which required an application and SAT score. Because of this, I took the SAT twice last year, and got around 2100 both times. This year, I took the ACT and on my first try got a 35. Obviously, that is a much better score, and it is what I plan to send to other colleges; however, Stanford requires all test scores.

Will the low SAT scores hurt my application? With studying I could get that up to about 2250, but that would require time that could be spent on other things. Is that worth doing?

Thanks in advance!

No, a 35 is great, don’t bother with the SAT. It won’t hurt your application in any way.

Congratulations by the way!

I completely agree, SAT and ACT are interchangeable and since your SAT is from an older date, I doubt they would even give it a second look. They take your highest composite. The only tests that would be worth taking are two SAT subject tests (which are recommended not required but can only help your application) that are 700+ scores, and maybe taking the ACT again for a perfect score (totally unnecessary but if you wanted to put in any more effort to improving a score that would be it). Focus on your ECs and grades with that time instead.
