Lower score but higher super score...what to do?

I got 2160 (M-800,CR-720,W-640) on the SAT in my first attempt.....I took it again, I studied only writing as my school exams were going on (international) and I scored 2050 (M-690,CR-630,W-730)....So, basically I raised my superscore to 2250, but decreased my score to 2050. Should I send both? Do all ivies super score? And even if they say they do, wouldn't they see the lower scores? Shall I use score choice and send only the first score or shall I send both?....Also I have 800 in both SAT Math 2 and Physics.

BUMP

send both, schools either superscore or use your highest score. You won’t be penalized for having a lower second score.

Send both – # 1) you must send both and #2). The schools all superscore, so it won’t hurt you.

@guineagirl96‌ @Mom1966‌ Thanks…and also if you know, do my scores seem decent for the top colleges?

I would say it is a reach for the Ivies, Duke etc… unless you had some other compelling life story or background that would make sense (1st generation college student, under-representated group etc). That’s why I think it is important that you apply to some more target/safety type schools vs. just the ivies.

@mom1996‌ i am applying to Purdue, UIUC and some LAC’s like Swarthmore and Harvey Mudd

Just wanted to add – 2250 is a great score, one that you should be proud of, just that there are many perfect score applicants that still don’t get in… so, that was all. I hope my previous post did not sound too harsh.

@mom1996‌ not at all…its is very tough these days…thanks for the advice

Harvey Mudd and Swarthmore aren’t safeties though

No… certainly not!

@intparent‌ Sorry, I didn’t understand what you implied.

@slights32‌ I know. But, they are slightly easier to get into as opposed to Cornell, Dartmouth, etc. Purdue and UIUC are my safeties. And Cornell is my dream college.

Strangely enough I know an international who got rejected from Harvey Mudd and accepted to Cornell. At that tier you never know! Also, a 2250 is really good and 800s in Math II and Physics is outstanding. Good luck!

@slights32‌ thanks for the encouragement

Sorry, referring to the comment above that Swarthmore and Mudd are not safeties. You are delusional if you think they are not reaches given the low acceptance rates. Here are the stats on all 4 schools:

Cornell - Acceptance rate 16%, midpoint CR 700, midpoint M 730
Dartmouth - Acceptance rate 10%, midpoint CR 730, midpoint M 730
Mudd - Acceptance rate 18% (but acceptance rate for male students last year was 10.3%), midpoint CR 720, midpoint M 760
Swat - Acceptance rate 17%, midpoint CR 710, midpoint M 720

Also, you are an international student - are you looking for financial aid?

@intparent‌ I never said they were my safeties…I was just saying those are the LAC’s I am applying to…And yes I am looking for at least partial aid…(can afford upto 40k a year without much trouble)

But they really aren’t… that is the point I was trying to make.

@intparent‌ Ok…got it
