lower standards?

I've always gotten pretty good grades and standardized test scores but now all of a sudden this quarter my grades were just awful. I mean i guess I just didn't try as hard and got lazy but I'm basically screwed now for getting all A's for the year and this is my junior year so its going to be awful.

Freshman year i took all honors and got all A's except for one B
Sophomore year i took all honors and 2 APs and got all A's except for two Bs
(and 4s on the exams)
Junior year i'm in the IB program and its not even that much work i've just been so lazy and honestly even if i work my butt off this last quarter the best i can do is get like 4 Bs and 4 As

so yeah a 3.5 isn't anything to cry about but its not what i know i'm capable of and i know theres nothing i can do about it but what kind of schools do you think i should be looking at now that my standards of what kind of schools i am looking at need to drop considerably?

back when i thought i might get straight As this year i was dreaming of Wake Forest, Vandy, and Davidson so i guess i need to find something like them but a couple steps down

oh and my SATs are 2210 and i'm most likely going to be a national merit SF
and im the captain of my varsity tennis team and volunteer 50+ hours a year with special olympics and thats about it

thanks so much guys!

bump

pleasee help me i'm stressing out so much right now

Sarebeth, 4 Bs and 4 As is not awful. Put things in perspective. Is a 3.5 your cumulative GPA? If that is only your junior-year GPA, remember that a cumulative GPA is also considered.

Don't worry so much. Just do your best. No one's going to say that you're a horrible student for getting Bs. I get Bs too. However, since you admit you were being lazy, it might be high time to kick yourself into doing your work. It could be that you are very hardworking and aren't giving yourself enough credit.

Put things in perspective. You'll be all right.

bumpbumpbump

oh and 3.5 won't be my cumulative but my unweighted cumulative will be like 3.7ish now probably
its just taht colleges see my grades and theyre gonna see these Bs which i KNOW Bs arent bad its just not going to get me into the schools i want to go to and i know i'm capable of going to
i've accepted that though and i just need more options now

I know how you feel, because I am in a similar position.

I've probably recommended U of C like a billion times, but it is a great school that is forgiving towards GPA. What do you think about LACs?

i honestly don't even know what type of school i want..
i just know that i am in love with wake forest and want something like that but where i actually have a shot

I know next to nothing about Wake Forest, but I'll try to help anyways:

What about women's colleges? You might want to consider Barnard, Wellesley and Mt. Holyoke. I think your stats are good enough to get into those schools. A 3.7 cumulative GPA is nothing to sneeze at and your SAT is great.

You might want to think about Macalester and/or Oberlin.

For national universities.. New York University, Lehigh and Boston College might be good matches for you.

You still have a choice at all three of those schools, sarahbeth. Please still apply, but carefully pick some safeties.

thanks xeneise! and i definitely will be finding safeties
