Lower than normal APUSH Scores?

I felt that the May SAT II US History was similar or a bit harder than the APUSH MC. I may only think this because I got a 730 on the SAT II. :/

680 ush…

Hmm… I got a 4, which makes me really happy. I was guessing a high 2 or low 3. I guess I did better at the essays than I thought. Apparently, completely skipping one FRQ doesn’t cripple your APUSH score, thank goodness.

^wow @flashpoint1230 you skipping a whole FRQ makes and still getting a four makes me feel great. you must have nailed everything else. Which did you skip?

^ Yeah; I was so surprised. I answered every MC question except one, and MC is what I’m better at. I finished the DBQ and the other FRQ. I completely skipped the first FRQ, though. (As in, started to write a thesis then scratched it out.) :)

I was not happy b/c I skipped it, then I was pretty sure that I misinterpreted the DBQ question, so I predicted a 2 or 3. I knew that my MC would save me from a one, thank goodness, but I couldn’t predict how much I got right. Apparently it was enough.

Then my sister got a 1…I didn’t know what to say… :(

Two words: grade inflation.

Oh, sorry. I didn’t answer your question. I skipped the first FRQ. Out of FRQ 1 and 2, I tried FRQ #2. It should have been one of the easier ones to answer, but I was having a brainfreeze.

I did complete FRQ #3, though, as well as the DBQ.

Grade inflation? I guess that does happen. To get a 5, don’t you only have to get a 75% or something like that? Eh…Still glad I got a 4.

^about 64% usually.

And an apparent 3 on the exam. ***, re-score time.

Well, I know already that two of my classmates got 5s. One I expected and the other was a little bit of a surprise especially since she struggled through the class. I, on the other hand, got a 4. I didn’t get As during class so I guess it was a direct correlation. However, my history teacher was an extremely rough teacher and his tests were extremely difficult. On the midterm and final which were practice tests, I got 5s. Also, I did very well on practice tests. I studied and annotated the entire REA book and I thought my essays were good. I know I got three of the multiple choice wrong, but I was sure of everything else.

In other words, I really thought I got a 5 and was shocked to see a 4.

“Grade inflation? I guess that does happen. To get a 5, don’t you only have to get a 75% or something like that? Eh…Still glad I got a 4.”

I probably scored about that, but the curve is actually much lower. jerry4445 is right- usually the curve for a 5 is in the low 60’s. And in 2001, the curve was only 58% for a 5.

I got a 5 but I was expecting lower scores from my classmates. Out of 20 at least 5 others I know got 5s. Maybe this was because in 10th grade english we talked about the Puritans’ values and how they influenced society :stuck_out_tongue: ownt.

i really felt like i ACED the DBQ and the FRQ’s but did poorly on multiple choice. i got a 650 on U.S. History SAT II, so i thought i could have a chance at a 4 … nope i get a freaking 3

Ahh, your scaring me! Taking APUSH next year, only AP offered for Sophs.

^APUSH is not really difficult. Just read the textbook and absorb the information and you’ll be set.

I was expecting a five, and got a four :
And not because I didn’t study enough…I felt my grasp of the material, etc. was five-worthy, and so did my teacher–to the point that he promised that I could “blame him” if I didn’t get a five.
I think it’s because I left too many of the multiple choice blank when I probably had the right answer, not to mention the Puritan DBQ was not my strong suit–bad luck in general. :</p>

From what I’ve heard though (from my teacher, who’s an AP grader himself, and is writing future tests), collegeboard wasn’t very happy with the higher than usual pass rate of last year, so there very well might have been a harsher curve this year.
