Hey guys, I was wondering what was the lowest gpa to be admitted into UCI? Not like the minimum though. I'd love to go to UCI but I have like a 3.2 gpa, with a C in calculus. =/

Well, is that 3.2 UC weighted GPA for your 10th and 11th year? Your senior grades don’t factor into the GPA so the C in calculus is irrelevant, as well as every other grade during your senior year, as long as you don’t get D’s or F’s. More than one D/F in your senior year screws you over for everything under UCB, UCLA, UCSD, but otherwise, straight A’s or straight C’s, the UC’s don’t factor those in at all.

As for your GPA, i think I did hit the minimum with a 3.5 UC Weighted, as like, I did have fairly good SAT scores, volunteer work, leadership, a job, and essay, and most people on CC said I wouldn’t even get close to UCI, and yet, I’m here. You should post the rest of your stats here, since UC’s only have 3.0 as their minimum GPA that they’re going to accept and having like, under a 3.2, even for UCB, doesn’t get you cut off not to even be considered.

I got a 3.5 unweighted, and a 3.4 weighted for both of my sohpomore seimesters. and I forgot to say im only a junior, and I have a C in pre-calculus, not calculus. I’m a sad man. LOL. I have done lots of volunteer work, and did other extracurricular activities. So idk, I’ll just have to see. I took the sat yesterday for the first time, so I’ll see how that plays out.

i’m not sure about the “minimum” GPA that UCI will accept, but i would say that everything else will factor into your admission…

@prettyskim how can you have a lower weighted GPA than your unweighted? doesn’t make sense.

UCIrvine is also one of my top choices… I really don’t think I’ll get in though haha

Stats:
UC GPA-3.5
SAT - 1630
AP Scholar (I’ve passed all my ap exams)
Taken 7 AP’s in total
Tons of community service
CSF/NHS
I think my essay was worthwhile…
Hispanic

woopsies, i must have switched those gpas up. well you never know, cause you’re hispanic. i’m asian. LOL not being racist, but im pretty sure you have a higher chance of getting into the UC’s cause of your race. CSF and NHS look good on your app, and taking 7 AP’s and passing all of them. I can’t really say much cause I’m a junior, so I have a while to go. but good luck dude! you never know!
and ashley, yeah thats true. gpa is just one of them, I’ve done quite a bit of extracurriculars so who knows

I don’t want to be harsh, but I think you could only get in if your SAT’s are somewhere near perfect and your essays are completely amazing. But aren’t you just a Junior? Just raise that GPA and ace all your classes these next two semesters and you will still have a good shot. How many AP’s are you taking? A good essay and lots of ECs will only get you so far…as you have to remember that the primary factors they consider are GPA and test scores.

Lol thanks prettyskim, that’s what I think as well… I feel like the only reason UCI would accept me is because Hispanics are underrepresented haha

Hahaha, well, I wouldn’t say that they’re working on helping more Hispanics getting in, at the same time. They seem to be taking most of the people in purely based on stats and away from race which is why there’s a majority of Asians here. No, I’m not making the claim that Asians are smarter or whatever, they just work harder due to stricter parents and tend to have me, more filled resumes than other races on an overall basis. It’s just the necessary work you need to put in to get into UCI, and yeah, if race was ever a factor to get into a college, UCI wouldn’t be a factor.

arlite, I got admitted to uci and currently attending uci, and i’m gonna openly admit, i had a C in my junior yr too, that damn spanish class lowered my gpa…haha anyways, i DEF. had a lot of extra curricular stuff, to a point i couldn’t fit all of them on my uc app. so i picked my best ones, AND my essay was, i’m not going to lie, pretty good. and my sat score was 1980, not the best but enough to get me in. but my uc gpa was pretty low too, it was 3.65. so i hope this gives you hope. <3
