major chemistry.....good essay
got so much financial aid i only have to pay 170000
sorry to people who failed to get in i feel like i got into such a prestigious school with so low academic score

can anyone beat me?

A few of my friends got in with 2-2.5’s a few years ago lol, just means they liked something else more in your application

you only have to pay 170000???

@CPUscientist300 yes
@joshuaguit damn guess someone already beat me :(

the college does not cost that much…neither does ANY college… are you using another currency system? or did you add an extra zero or two?

RPI is much more than 170K USD in total. I believe he meant 17K a year rather than 170K though

ooops i added extra zero it is 17000

oh yeah i forgot how colleges say they already take off almost half of the price themselves.

i get it  sorry to go off topic

yeah it is great deal since i got admitted to purdue, ohio state, and penn state with few financial aid

how good was your essay to get in? and did you have a portfolio? i have like a 3.3 -3.4 gpa and i want to get in…

@tng583 my essay was really good…that is why i got admitted with low score. i didn’t have portfolio because i applied to undecided major. but i think it would be hard to get in with 3.3 -3.4 gpa unless you do really good on SAT or write a good essay. anyways good luck. hope you get in. I visited campus today and the campus seems really nice.

3.4avg and 25ACT score here

You are already having trouble with significant digits…good luck with engineering.

Yeah, I beat you. And I’m not proud of it, you shouldn’t be either.

Talk about self-absorbed!!! Just be happy that you won admission.

hey, i have a 3.77 uw gpa, im planning on taking precalc, english, physics, ap world, spanish, digital engineering and apstat/or global issues class junior year. would this look good to get into rpi even wpi or purdue

The classes you listed are all pretty standard, so the only real piece of information in your relatively-hard-to-read question is that you have a 3.77 unweighted GPA. Seeing as you told us nothing about your high school or your course selection, even that statistic is pretty much meaningless to us.

Nobody’s going to be able to answer your question satisfactorily.

Sorry, I forgot to mention certain parts,
I go to a relatively formidable HS (Walt Whitman) that has good sides and Bad.
For my class, there are about 490 kids and I am probably placed in the 30-42%
The current courses I’m taking that match a 3.77gpa are Honors English, Honors Chemistry, Honors Algebra 2, AP NSL, Honors Spanish III, Engineering Design, and College test prep course. I haven’t taken the SAT/ACT yet but have PSAT ( got lower 60’s on each section). I tend to do less HW, but do well on tests and Projects.
Hopes this helps in answering my original Q??

*Interesting username, why cesium

sarcasm
Son is freshman at RPI and graduated from Wootton (and tried to beat you in hockey!). Loves RPI and is majoring in Mech Eng. Can’t give you much guidance based on stats thus far. Is 3.77 wtd or unwtd? Should try to target AP calc and AP physics if you can by senior year. Consider SAT prep courses next January for March '12 SAT if you can as well. Also, talk to guidance office and see if they particpate in RPI’s Medal program. PM me if you want more info.

hah, mdbdad, i don’t know much bout the hole county hockey thing, but this year we were okay. Go football.
the gpa is unwtd, wtd would be around a 4.3
check out my thread to see what i plan to do later in HS
Question: What extracirrics did your son do, and what scholarships did he get?
