Lowest stats you know of anyone who's ever gotten into michigan?

Curious...what are the lowest stats of anyone you know that has ever been accepted into michigan? (preferably out of staters)

(Because I know some people from my school that are applying and im wondering to myself..WOW do you REALLY think you have a shot? And hey maybe they might, but we'll have to see)

actually..i think, unless their stats are a lot lower than yours...it depends more on when you sent the apps

does this include football players?

nah, i guess not athletes (since they were probably recruited based on atheltic ability)... I sent my app in nov 17 (3.7 mich gpa , 1380, 800,700,700)...so i guess if there is anyone you nkow that sent it in AFTER that date and still got rejected...

im just curious because i used to have confidence id get in, but after a couple too many doses of collegeconfidential, it seems like the caliber of students applying is so much greater than me, and my sat2s dont even count, which are the only good part about my grades)...

College Confidential is saturated with overachievers. Definitely don't let them depress you -- look at the school's freshman class profile. Then, give yourself a little more room. College isn't as hard to get into as most people here would like you to believe. It's also not the most important decision in your life. With your current stats, I don't see why you wouldn't get in.

thank you so much, that makes me feel better! i will keep cc posted if i get the decision soon!

1170 3.3 michigan gpa a kid i knew, she got in but she was an URM soo idk if the stats mean much

Out of state?

A friend that goes to my schools got in last year (didnt go though, too far), His stats were:
1290 SAT, rank was top 15% he said, and GPA was ~3.6. He applied for Kines and got in. He just told me he applied early though, but doesnt remember when.

Those stats seem pretty low compared to all of the other posts on the boards.

out of state?

yes (too far away, NY)

I live in-state, so a ton of kids from my small high school apply to UMich. As of yet, all 8 applicants have been accepted. One guy had a 26 ACT and 3.6, another had a 35 ACT and a 4.0--it definitely varies!

ANy more out of staters got any?

I think it's less competetive than it seems on CC- still uber competetive, but they make it seem like as hard as a lower level ivy, and well, it just isn't

It is obviously harder to get into an Ivy League than it is to get into Michigan. Ivies have acceptance rates than hover between 10% and 30%. Michigan accepts 50% of its applicants.

However, many students admitted into Michigan have a chance of getting into the Ivies. The average SAT score of admitted students is 1430, the average ACT score of admitted students is 32, the average unweighed GPA admitted students is 3.9. However, unfortunately, Michigan has a poor yield rate and many of the best students they accept opt to go to other schools. So the average of students who actually enroll is significantly lower.

are you sure the average ACT is 32?

Doubt it. The average ACT of admitted Engineering students is 31 (unless the admissions director lied to us) so I'm going to guess for the entire university it is not a 32. I know very few students from our high school with over a 30 on the ACT and hundreds admitted to Michigan, so again, I doubt it.

That's way too high. According to both princetonreview and collegeboard websites, the middle range (25-75) ACT score is 26-30; SAT Verbal is 580-690 and SAT Math is 620-720.

I was listing average scores of those admitted, not of those enrolled. The average scores of those enrolled, as I stressed above, are significantly lower. Mean SAT is 1310 and mean ACT is 28. My point was that it is not telling to look at the averages of students who enroll because most of the best students admitted into Michigan chose to go elsewhere.

A 1310 SAT is better than a 28 ACT(there not equal)..so that kinda means that they are easier on in state people....bc in staters usually take ACT while a large portion of out of staters (here in ny) take the SAT
