Loyola vs DePaul

I just got accepted to both Depaul and Loyola in Chicago, and I was wondering if one is known to be significantly better or worse than the other. I want an urban setting, so I like DePaul, but I also want a traditional college campus feel so Loyola would also be great. I want to major in education, and I got a 19,000 a year scholarship to Loyola and haven’t received my scholarship info from DePaul yet. I’m really at a crossroads!!

I almost applied to both as well (ended up only applying to DePaul), they both are very similar in many aspects. The reason I chose to only apply to DePaul is because I liked the campus more. I would say choose what feels right for you because you can’t go wrong with either school. (also wait on DePaul’s scholarship info, they were really generous to me!!)

Don’t look at the scholarship.
Look at Direct costs: tuition, fees, room, board.
Then, subtract scholarships and grants.
How much is each?
Post the result here whenever you hear back from DePaul.

I haven’t received my scholarship info from DePaul yet but I was accepted about a week ago. How often do they generally send out the packets? I live in Chicago.

Any update now, with the FA package?

I got 15,000 from DePaul, as opposed to the 19,000 to Loyola, so Loyola is higher on my list but I’m still not sure.

Don’t look at the scholarship amount.
Take direct costs, abstract the scholarship: what are the results?

Loyola is 41,000 and DePaul is 42,000 so they’re both about the same, which makes this decision that much harder haha.

For what it’s worth I think Loyola has more name recognition outside of the region. Which may or may not be a factor when seeking a job. We visited both DD liked Loyola more. She only applied to Loyola and was accepted last month.

Is that within budget, ie., can your parents afford both from income and savings?

Can you revisit the two schools before making a decision?

Both are fairly affordable for us. It’s a little expensvie but expected

Did you get into the Honors program at both? What about major requirements (they ought to differ)? Any specialty within your major that would especially interest you? Amount of transfer credit granted?

I didn’t apply to either Honors program. I want to major in education so there’s no real difference. They both accept all of my college credits I’ve earned.

See where they have placement, pass rates for the state certification?
