I understand there are much more applicants applying to LSA, and LSA has numerous programs, so there are more spots to fill.... How much easier is it to be admitted to LSA than Business or Engineering?

From what I hear, LSA is easier to get into cause there are more spots. Also, the people that apply to engineering and Ross tend to have better stats so it is more competitive.

The 25th-75th percentile ACT for LSA is 27-31 89th-98th percentiles
The 25th-75th percentile ACT for Engineering is 29-33 94th-99th percentiles

I don’t know what the average ACT for Ross admits is, but average freshman year GPA is 3.61, and the GPA expectations are lower for Engineering admits, so I’d guess the average freshman year GPA is more like 3.7-3.8 for LSA admits. The average GPA in LSA is a 3.2, so expect that Ross will have something like 32-34 mid 50 percentile.

Those numbers make it look significantly harder to get into Engineering than LSA. It depends heavily on what classes you took though, and what your GPA is. Business is significantly harder though, and will expect a more rounded education than Engineering.

So overall, engineering and business programs are more competitive? I am not trying to take the easy way out, ha, but I figured the student’s statistics for engineering and business are outstanding, and that there are only a handful of spots to fill. I am looking to major in a science field, and feel I have a better chance at U-M through that route and LSA.

Well, science is LSA… They don’t study science in business school, so perfect, LSA is what you want, and it’s easiest to get into.

is it possible to get into LSA and then switch to Engineering? or would you have to apply again?

You can transfer… You’d have to apply to transfer but from what I understand it’s not hard.
