The context for my post is that I have never taken a formal class in trigonometry prior to entering trig. I can do trivial things like finding the side of a triangle with the trig functions but that's about it. My major is pre-pharm which will eventually start dealing with a heavy load of calc. I don't know whether to risk it and do the MAC 1147. I hear it's hard and it's fast-paced. I feel like I should first pass through the trig hoop before indulging in MAC 1147. What do you guys think?
I was in your shoes, except my thing was between precalc 1147 or calc 1 of 2311. Let me say this, TAKE THE EASIER CLASS. I had to drop calc cause I was FAILING. I took precalc, A-ed it and now feel prepared for Calc, unlike before. Take the slower classes, Precalc has a HIGH failure rate because she goes SO fast and teaches in a way thats hard to understand (plus she has a chinese accent which for some students is hard to get). Take the split pre-calc classes otherwise (like 2 people I know) you could end up failing precalc twice.

Ahh thanks. I apologize for the error in my 1st post but I’m glad you knew what I meant. Though, may I ask what you mean by these split pre-calc classes you talk about? I’m speculating that it’s either basic college algebra + trigonometry or precalc algebra + precalc algebra and trig. ._.

Hi sorry what is the number for the split pre-calculus class? Did you take the placement math test and what is that all about. Thanks.

[GatorSchedule.Net .:. Search Results](http://gatorschedule.net/searchResults.php?term=summer2011&pg=1&subject=MAC&rsltspp=30&alternate=yes)

Until there is a reply, I suppose it’s to your discretion which number is what you want. And those placement exams cost 10 dollars to take. They’re on ISIS

If you feel that you are weak in math and want to get a better grade go with MAC 1114. Mac 1147 was very hard for me and I barely got a B- . I took precalc my sophomore year of highschool and though I was going to pass with no problem. I even thought it was harder than Calc 1 here so its definitely a weed out class.

BUT I would talk to somebody at preview/ or an advisor to see if you can split those two classes and combine them to make up for taking 1147. Im not really sure if you can do that and I am a Biology major. Hope that helped!
