Hi everyone. I'm starting as a freshman and my goal was to be placed in Calculus (MAC 2311) but unfortunately I only got a 60% on the placement test. I took precal senior year and got straight As, but I forgot many things.

I'm pre optometry, so taking calculus is crucial, I want a class that can prepare me well because I'm taking 2311 in Spring.

You need to take MAC1147, Pre-Calculus. That is the actual prereq for MAC 2311. MAC 2233 is Applied Calculus, designed for non-math heavy majors. UF doesn’t offer credit for both MAC 2233 and MAC 2311, so taking both wouldn’t be a great idea. If you need MAC 2311, go with MAC 1147 first.

You could also brush up on your precalc, and then retake the math placement exam. It’ll cost $10, but what’s $20 compared to the amount you save skipping 1147 ;)
