Mac/PC for engineering student?

Hi. I will be an engineering major in college this fall and I want to purchase my new laptop soon in order to get used to the feel and workings of it. I have heard that MacBooks don't run some engineering programs, but I could just download the windows operating system to run them, as my dad has done. Any recommendations?

Macs can run indeed run Windows easily and legally with Boot Camp or Parallels.

If you choose to get a Mac and use parallels or boot camp to run Windows too, make sure you get a good amount of RAM so you don’t have any lag. You can get 16GB online for about $100, while Apple will charge $100-$200 to upgrade from 4GB to 8GB.
