Made a rather large error...

So I logged onto my common app today just to ensure everything was in order, and I realized I forgot to SUBMIT the common app for Amherst!!!

I submitted teacher forms, supplement, and payment all by the deadline. But now I submitted the common app a day late! It was just a stupid mistake caused by mulitple versions. Now, for whatever reason, the common app still let it go. Does that mean its ok?

All the info was already locked in, I couldn't change my essay as the same version had been sent to 2 other schools. I just made a stupid mistake.

Should I contact amherst? Should I talk to my GC? Should I do nothing?

Please give me your input! Thanks!

There’s a good chance that they haven’t gone through the apps yet so once they get to yours, they won’t pay any mind to the fact that it was submitted a day late. I would be hesitant about contacting Amherst since it would alert them to the fact that you submitted your app a day late when it might have gone unnoticed and it’s past deadline so they can’t really do anything about it. Maybe your guidance counselor may know more though.

There is nothing you can do about this. It was submitted when it was submitted and either they’ll consider it (probable) or they won’t. Emails and calls from you or your GC aren’t going to change anything and just call attention to the error.

unless amherst was your number 1, go-to, top of the list, michael jordan of colleges school, i wouldn’t worry about it.

but it looks bad compared to the kids who submitted weeks even months before.
