<p>I was #39 on the waitlist yesterday for MAE 9 with de Oliveira, but suddenly without any announcements, i became #2 on the waitlist just overnight.</p>
<p>Is this a glitch in their system or am I really #2 on the waitlist? I just don't want to feel extremely excited and then become disappointed afterwards; being waitlisted as #21 on CHEM 6AH is despairing enough.</p>

<p>and not to scare you too much, but there will be many more disappointing moments in the years ahead … just accept them, k?</p>
<p>i think a bunch of people (myself included) enrolled in MAE 9 only to get an email from UCSD saying that it is not recommended to take this during your first quarter at UCSD (because it will be taught at a higher level this year than in years past). so i’m guessing a bunch of people had to drop the class after reading the email late and take a different course.</p>

<p>The reason why your waitlist number went down so dramatically is because they probably added some new sections.</p>
<p>the email was sent the day before freshman enrollment started… so i think augest 30th. it was sent to mechanical engineers and engineering science majors i think and attached was a new 4 year plan that was different than the one from that our counselor recommended</p>
