I'm trying to narrow down my options for transferring to a CSU in either the Spring or Fall 2013 semesters (preferably Spring, but I know that only a few CSUs are accepting transfers during that semester).

I want to either major in Psychology and minor in Gender and Sexuality Studies (CSU San Bernardino - also have the Certificate option rather than minor) or major specifically in Women's/Gender Studies (Sonoma, Stanislaus, or Northridge).

I had one Psych instructor tell me that it's more beneficial to get a B.A. in something general and then later on focus from there; another instructor said that it's more beneficial to focus beginning with a B.A.

I'm not sure what the pros and cons of either option would be, and any advice or knowledge would be most appreciated.
