Major GPA Questions -- Chemical Engineering

How often is it that employers will look at a Major GPA over a cumulative GPA? My Cumulative GPA is higher (and what I've been told is "hire-able") than my Major GPA (which is lousy).

Basically, the way my school calculates Major GPA is it doesn't take into account Maths (Calc I-III and DiffEq), General Chemistry, or General Physics (which all seem to be included in a lot of places major GPA). It does take into account Organic Chem, and all of the ChE courses (including an in-house Intro Bio class that I sucked royally at).

That said, I'm pretty good at the stuff that doesn't require a load of memorization (typically what one would associate with Engineering courses), and it's still early (just finished Sophomore year), but to look at "2.57 Major GPA" is worrying.

I noticed that my school doesn't even put Major GPA on the unofficial online transcript, so would putting down a "Science and Engineering GPA" on a resume be acceptable since I've done well in all the maths and intro sciences (B+ was my worst score there)?

If you are not comfortAble with your “Major” GPA, put the overall on your resume. Chances are, if you have engineer summer jobs or internship, they don’t really care much.

I’ve worked a little bit in a lab here. No internship thus far though, but I’m optimistic.
