I am an Econ major and originally wanted to minor in mathematics. The horror stories at my school about Calc 152 and 251 have kind of scared the sh!t out of me and have made me begin to look elsewhere. So I was wondering if stats would be second best? I want to minor in a mathematical field, but from what I have heard has made me apprehensive about minoring in mathematics specifically. So how would stats look to a good grad school for Finance or Econ? I wouldnt have to take either of those Calc classes in a Stats Minor at my U.
If you want to go to grad school in econ, you should take multivariable calculus regardless of what you minor in. If you just want to do a MS in finance, either or neither of those minors would be fine.
Thank you, I was leaning towards a finance MBA anyway.

Any major would be fine for grad school but I would agree that you should take one semester of calculus. Not sure what grad schools you are considering but just so you know for the top MBA programs you really need a minimum of 2 years (preferably more) of solid work experience to be considered.
Yes, my major (Econ) requires a semester of Calc 1. I have an internship at the bank I want to work with so I my plan was to try and solidify a job there, work for a couple years, then get my MBA. My two dream schools are NYU and Columbia.
