Is your major decision permanent? For example, I am torn between two schools- one in the arts and the other in the sciences. If I at first apply to the Tisch school and send in my video, but then later decide to pursue the school of Arts and Sciences (upon supposed admission), could I do that?

Please tell me I have that wiggle room..

Not quite sure what you’re asking.

If you attend Tisch then you can do a double major in CAS, and vice-versa.

If you’re asking if you can transfer from Tisch to CAS, then yes, but you’d have to go through the transfer process.

I should’ve elaborated… I meant on CommonApp where there’s a section asking about your school of choice. If I decide on Tisch, now, or the Steinhardt School (and I send in my portfolio/ video) but decide on a different school later (after applying and becoming accepted by NYU), could I do that?

From your reply it seems like I can, but I just wanted to elaborate just to make sure.

Yes, but you’d have to wait until your second semester before you could go through the internal transfer process. If you applied and were accepted to Tisch, but over the summer before the first semester decide that you want to be in Steinhardt instead–that may be tough (if not impossible?).

Check out the section on internal transfers at NYU’s website.

Hope that helps.

@frenchman: yes it does, thank you :)
