Hey guys, I was just wondering how hard is it to switch majors in college. For example, if I get accepted as a Biomedical engineer how hard is it to switch to a computer science engineer in UC Davis?? Like will my grades in freshman year college determine if I can switch or are there other factors as well. Any thoughts appreciated :) Thanks!!

You’ll have to look at the information on the UC Davis site (or whatever college you’re looking into). Every university has different ways of approaching this. Some universities allow you to switch your major at any time between any department. Some universities have limited apply periods and/or require a certain amount of prerequisites before you can be accepted into a different major.

Look on the website and place a call to advising if you’re still unsure.

I attend UC Davis. It’s easy to switch majors once you get in. All you have to do is fill out a major change petition form, and for the College of Engineering, there are a few extra things you need to do: [Advising Questions and Answers - UC Davis Engineering](http://engineering.ucdavis.edu/undergraduate/advising/answers.html#a1)

Note that you cannot switch majors in your first quarter at UCD. You can switch starting from winter quarter.
