Major: undecided or bio related?

I am an international student planning to study as a pre med in US.
Excluding the fact that I am not a green card holder, please advise me in my major.

My Profile:
2300 SAT
34 ACT
5 AP world history, economics(micro), Calculus BC, Psychology
4 AP economics(macro), biology, chemistry

My ECs are kind of weak, I have some school awards and joined the school's orchestra club and newspaper club. Overall, my ECs are weak, and my only biology related ECs are a contest participation, 2 research papers on insulin resistance (not extensive), and a summer vacation medical camp. However, even these are really weak and don't have much to talk about.

So, should I apply to university as undecided or should I choose from: biochemistry, biology, and etc? Does it apply for CAS as well?

Also, I am applying to Brown University's PLME program, but since that's a pre med specific program, am I required to apply as a biology related field? Is it favorable?

Again, please consider that my biology related ECs are really weak, meaning there's nothing in particular that stands out. I don't even have a lot of volunteer work done either, not at a hospital or anywhere else. I have bits of other ECs though. Not awesome, but okay.

I know PLME and med school as a whole is a long shot for me, especially with my international student status and weak science ECs, but I still wanted to ask.

If you use the Search function on this forum for ‘major’, you will find many threads that ask about UG major as a premed. The resounding answer is to major in whatever you like and will do well in.

As far as applying to an UG college, they don’t care that you’re premed (many drop out of premed during UG), so apply in any major that you like.

Unless PLME stipulates that you must declare a science major, then they don’t care. But either way, you’re going to have to show you have a strong academic and medical background to be considered.

I understand that even if I am premed, the colleges won’t care about what major I enter in as. So, even with my weaker ECs in biology, it won’t hurt my chances of getting into the undergrad college even if I apply as a biology major or an undecided major? that is, the major I decide won’t affect my undergrad admission chances?

By the way, I’m determined to do well in undergrad and might receive permanent residency before applying regular decision.

Brown has no major requirement and it is one school where it won’t matter what you study, assuming you can get into something as prestigious as PLME.

There are very few situations where the major you put on your application matters for acceptance because UGs change majors so often.

It could matter if you’re applying to a specific school within a college (eg. architecture at CMU), or if you’re a desired applicant for some reason (eg. URM female in engineering with demonstrated interest/achievement, Classics with demonstrated chops in the field).

Thanks, I think nearly all of my application concerns have been answered. So, since I am interested in biochemistry and molecular engineering, I think I will submit my form as one of those. That will be easier for me to explain in my essays as well, I think.
