I'm a senior in high school going to SJSU and majoring in Computer Science. My ultimate goal is to be able to transfer to Berkeley's EECS program in 2 years. In order to do that, first of all, I'll need a ton of credits, and since I didn't do so good on AP tests in high school, I can't skip any credits. I would like to finish off some GE classes before I go to college. Like English. I'm a total noob tho so I have a ton of questions.

How do I know which english (or other) class I should take over the summer so I get credits for SJSU and Berkeley??? (or how do i know what classes to take in general??)

Do I have to take these classes at a community college?

I thought I had more but these are the only 2 that pop into my head. Please answer I think I might be too late to sign up but I have to take classes this summer!

[Welcome to ASSIST](http://www.assist.org) will tell you which courses transfer from community colleges to CSUs and UCs. Look up your CSU or UC school and major to find community college courses that match up to major requirements. Also note what your CSU and UC school policies are on taking courses at community colleges are after enrolling in the CSU or UC school.

Note that UCs tend to be much more transfer friendly to students applying from community colleges than those applying from CSUs. Students at CSUs can stay where they are and complete a bachelor’s degree, which is not an option for students at at community colleges.

Still, SJSU’s location in the back yard of “Silicon Valley” employers is a good thing for those majoring in computer science.

I’m for sure going to SJSU tho, so should I still take classes at a community over the summer? Is that my only option?
