I have heard that it is bad to major in criminal justice if you plan on going to law school BUT I am in my 2nd year of college and I feel like it is too late to change my major unless I want to be in school for another year or 2 (which I don't, it throws off my entire life plan and I just don't want to be). I am a criminal justice major, pre-law minor, and if I get an internship in the Fall I will also be a poli sci minor (I might try to double major but I might not, it depends on how long it will take) but I don't want to not get into a good law school.. I REALLY want to go to LSU, and I am going to start prepping for a practice LSAT this summer and I want to take the actual LSAT in the Fall of my senior year. I need to know what else I need to do, my GPA is a 3.2 (I am trying to raise it higher this year and next) I am an active member of a sorority, and I might have an internship in the Fall so what do I do?? I am so stressed out already about entering and getting accepted, sometimes I just think I can't even do it.

I don’t know the answer to this question, but if you do well on the LSAT and your GPA is good, it shouldn’t really matter what your major is, should it? <– I’d love an answer to that question as well, if anyone knows!

All American Girl I just wanted to let you know that so far you are on the right track. You have a high G.P.A. and you are in a sorority. I myself am a criminal justice major. I’m considering entering law school this fall and honestly I haven’t heard anything about being a criminal justice major be a bad thing when trying to get into law school. I know it isn’t the traditional major a prospect law student takes but really I haven’t heard anything about that major making it difficult for us getting into law school.

What would also help you to get in law school is community service. Law schools like prospective students who are active in their communities whether it is feeding the less fortunate or tutoring kids with their homework, cleaning the enviroment; stuff like that.

A strong letter of reccommendation is a big help too. A letter from your professors is a big plus but letter(s) from your employer(s) can help as well. Make sure the letters advertise your strengths well so there is a strong chance it may persuade whomever is reading it to pick you to enter their school. Also find out how many letters you need to in order to enter that particular school. Law schools usually have that number listed on their websites.

A strong personal essay describing yourself and your motivation for wanting to go into law
school in the first place will also help.

I think this one might do a better job getting her on the right track.
