I read through the wash u website and it seems like they have a pretty structured education program... I'm thinking of majoring in English or education, possibly both.

Does anyone happen to know anything about the English/education program(s) that they may have? Anything you heard, other than what's given on the website, good or bad? I'm a senior in the fall and I'm not entirely sure if I should decide on applying here just yet; I'd like your opinions first. :)

Thanks!

I can't be too much help, but one of my friends is getting a second major in education and mentioned that it can ONLY be a second major, because there are only about 8 classes for it. I don't know how accurate that is, so I'd get a second opinion. Sorry I can't be more help!

Not to contradict what you just heard before, But I'm an Educational Studies major at WashU as a sophmore right now, so you can certainly be and education major with that being your only major. I'm doing the major which doesn't include teaching credentials, but there are three other Education major programs specifically for those interesting in teaching as a profession. My experienece in the Education program has been fantastic. The Advisors are wonderful, and the classes are taught by great professors who are doing really cool research with the graduate school of social work on campus, and they alwasy invite the undergraduate to join the research or out of class work if you want to. Also Teach for America is ver heavily involved with WashU and they love taking our education graduates if that's something you're interested in. Hope all that helps!

that helps out a lot - thank you!(:
