Do you think there is any circumstance where sending a maker portfolio could actually hurt an application. For instance, what if someone submits a rather basic report about say making a popsicle stick bridge, which doesn’t seem, to me, to be the caliber of research and coding projects. Could it shed a negative light on the applicant?
Maker portfolios can only help. They can’t hurt an applicant.
I actually think it could hurt your application. MIT would assume you submitted one of your best works and if it looked childish it might shine an unflattering light on the rest of your application.
