Thanks, I was just curious if there was anyone on here who was familiar (or more familiar than most) with such practices (e.g. someone who used to be on a committee/knows someone on a committee/etc.)

^ i thought that meant like, not being part of the pile of automatic rejects, and being taken to the adcom discussion table where they talk/vote if they want you or not…that’s what i had understood it to be, I could be totally wrong though!

Well, the good news is that they didn’t outright reject you. The bad news is that they didn’t outright accept you. So, it’s not much different from before, is it? Did you get to know your regional admissions person? (Don’t do this now, but it’s very helpful!) Because he/she is going to bat for you.

This just seems odd to me. I always had the impression that the entire admissions process, beginning to end, is shrouded in Top Secrecy. I never heard of interim reports being given.

I’m pretty sure your counselor is just pulling your leg or jumping to conclusions from some other piece of information he/she has. The whole committee process and the application evaluation process in general is usually kept pretty confidential. I KNOW that no college (and especially not the top tier ones) would release that kind of information. Don’t read into it, just wait the three weeks for decisions to come out.

everyone “makes it to committee” If they wanted another piece of info they may have asked you guidance counselor for it. It was wrong for him to let you know and it really doesnt mean anything.
I hope your accepted but dont get too happy yet.
