Making the trip ...

I'll be accompanying my candidate to KP for Indoc - as I'm sure several of you other "new" KP parents will be. Since it's probably going to be a major event for most of us, what do you suppose the chances are of some of us out-of-towners (and locals as well) getting together for lunch/dinner after the candidates have entered the gates?

Let me know - we're in for a long ride together and there's strength in numbers, right?

That is such a great idea JRH. I hope people will take you up on the offer. Its such an abrupt ending to the morning & we weren't ready to leave the area yet. We ended up at Deli on the Green, crying all alone over egg salad. I sat at a table & wrote that first letter and mailed it before we left Great Neck. It would have been so lovely to have had some others there being miserable with us that could relate. LOL
It rained buckets that day & I'm so hoping that doesn't happen this year to you guys. You can bet that we'll be thinking of you on that day.

Yum.....Deli on the Green is so good!!! New KP Parnets check that out, and also Bruce's (also on middle neck)......can't wait for some good food this weekend.

I hope that you get there this week-end Flynavy to treat yourself! It is a really good place. When we walked in, I forgot all about you guys standing out there in that pouring cold rain, getting yelled at, for one brief second when I looked into the glass case & saw all the wonderful things in there. I had to make three or four passes before making up my mind on one thing. Will try Bruce's next time we're up. Thanks for the hint!

JRH it sounds like a great idea, keep us in mind for that lunch. WDNJ

WDNJ - sent you an email - jeff

There will be about 300 sets of Parents, Grandparents, sisters and brothers on campus to proudly see off their new Plebe/Candidates. Not ot mention assorted Aunts, Uncles, and other relatives. You will make lots of new friends quickly, especially the teary eyed moms who proudly but sadly say goodbye to their child. Be sure to wear something colorful or unusual (like a hat) that will make you easy to pick out of a crowd, so that when your son or daughter has those few precious last moments to be with you before they are marched off, much of that time is not spent searching.

Although this is obvious advice, Do dress for the weather! Last year it POURED - other years it was beastly hot. Bring some water, umbrella, hat, etc. While there is some shelter, you want to tour around the campus yourselves, take lots of pix - it is helpful when your son or daughter mention a place - or to show curious friend and family.

Yes, we'd like to. Sounds like a great idea!

Time is short...leaving on Wednesday morning. Hope to hook up with some of you on Thursday!
