Manzanita village

What is the experience like? How would it be for a second year?

I asked my friend who goes to UCSB to rank the dorms. Here’s the part about Manzanita:

I heard/seen/read that a good majority of the rooms there have either an amazing view of the sea, or an amazing view of the lagoon. Quite a plus.

However, I’ve also heard that because the rooms are grouped together in houses, people don’t really meet each other very much. One only carries the key to the house that your own room is located in, so you don’t meet people coming into or out of Manzanita outside of your own house very often.

I have a general theory that the further you are from the center of campus, the less one is motivated to get active in school events and activities. This doesn’t apply to Manzanita as much as it does to Santa Catalina (FT); however, it should still be a bit of something to anticipate.

Otherwise, the rooms are quite large, and there is a large amount of space. Probably the biggest plus espoused by people is the 4 person per bathroom kinda thing - which, I must admit, must be pretty damn nice.
