March 2012 SAT I Writing Thread

@stressedouttt

This came up before in this thread… people said that it’s most likely “Its” because it’s an incorrectly used pronoun?

For those who said it’s no error, can u please explain the grammatical rule or ur reasoning.

how is “its” incorreclty used?

The only way you’re going to change “Its” is by adding an apostrophe, which would not correct the question.

As for Jan vs. March, less No Errors, probably easier for me. :stuck_out_tongue: Essay was better, but I couldn’t think of examples. Used Great Gatsby, Frederick Douglass, triple amputee Bryan Anderson (I didn’t have the correct first name, but whatever :P)

“The only way you’re going to change “Its” is by adding an apostrophe, which would not correct the question.”

Or change the word “Its” to “The” :/

“Its” is grammatically correct. It may sound awkward, but it correctly refers to the closest singular noun in the sentence, the “room”.

“learning to play piano is hard, especially when one does not have musical experience upon which to draw”
I put no error for that one
there was a sentence, something along the lines of “had went…business…, but returned…college degree”, i think i put no error. not sure
also i put no error for the “Its/furnishings/chandeliers/mirrors/room/larger than it actually is” question and error on vary/varies for the lipstick question. can anyone verify pls

Did anyone get the question on Bach and Debussy? Or red pandas?

I didn’t have the college degree or musical experience ones. does that make them experimental?

There was definitely one experimental writing section. I had two sections with 35 questions and one with 14.

Red pandas and raccoons or something… It was error ID and the answer was “its” (letter c or d)

@nihilism

Red panda one was “its-> their”

I had section 2 writing and section 6 writing. was section 6 experimental?

Yes. I can confirm. I got a writing for section 2 and math for 6.

how mayn no writing no errors did people get?

Oh thank god i got the red panda one right i thought i got it wrong.

3

10 characters

the question with the though the reporters were harrassing him, the politician refused releasing the … is though an acceptable intro?

3 NE

 • Chandeliers in the room with “Its”
 • A fact about trains? animals? science?
 • One other that was previously discussed in the forum…

@dream
“to release” is correct

It would be nice if we can post the essay prompts as well for curious folks( specifically me xD)

I got the one about should people forget about their mistakes and move along or use their mistakes and learn from them.
