March 2012 SAT I Writing Thread

I don’t see the reason for putting quotations around nice? I stated that you are “probably” wrong and didn’t say that you are 100% wrong since you were so sure that " there were definitely more than 3." And if you were to doubt the general consensus then what’s the point of coming here to discuss the answers if you’re so adamant that you’re right. I feel like talking crap now since you kinda ticked me off, but that would only proved you right so I’ll end it as that.

I know someone already asked, but what exactly was the experimental?

I think the NO ERRORS are:
the bike lane
author combining literary and mythical elements, creating an evocation
and the chandelier one

@IfailedtheSat.

The grammar section involving pesticides and lawns for the fixing the essay part is NOT experimental.

what… wait then what was the error in the one with the japanese bullet train allowing people to commute to work quickly?

Curve Predictions?

How could you tell which was experimental?

@cath I think it was had or something near that

what was the experimental about? I don’t remember if i did two or one of those

I have the exact same no errors as mistah.

I’m assuming that you all have an experimental grammar section…
The one that was not experimental was the one with the pesticides and lawn essay for the fixing essay part. So then you can concluded that the grammar section without the pesticides/lawn essay was the experimental section.

Okay im only confused about the no errors for the writing section. I clearly remember putting three or possible 4.

Bike lane
Japanese bullet trains
Author who drew things from Caribbean folktale
the room one (i guess this one is being debated)

eagles I got the same 4 as you did. so many people are saying there were only 3 NEs though.

Do you remember what the Japanese bullet train quesion was exactly? I’m pretty sure there was an error in it…

Sent from my SGH-T959 using CC

wait, so the one about the color of foods changes taste or whatever is the experimental one? And, was that the writing section that came later AFTER the writing section about petsicides/herbicdes for those people who had experimental writing?

It was like Japanese bullet trains, uncessary info, keep or some other PLURAL verb. Since trains is plural and the verb right after the clause was plural, I put NE.

What does it even mean for a section to be experimental?

did any of you who had the experimental writing remember what the passage corrections topics were?

I remember the first being about a lawn and pesticides but I forget what the other one was about

I’m guessing it was colored food?

@clemxens. It’s the section that not everyone got and the section that doesn’t count. It’s used by collegeboard to test new types of questions. The only way to know which section is experimental is to find out which questions you got but others didn’t. But when you’re taking the test, there’s no way so you have to do your best on all of them.

The reason I believe Its in the chandelier question is wrong is because by stating Its chandelier…make the room, the question is vague and ambiguous as to what the it is. I’ve seen this before and it is wrong because it should say “the room’s chandelier…make the room”. Its can refer to anything within the room.
