Does anyone know if Exeter is going to have a marching band anytime soon?

When you know what freezes over.

Ah, marching bands. One thing that public high schools are MUCH better at.

LOL. amazinness!!! is funny. A girl (you are a girl correct?) with a good sense of humor is great!

One young lady from Texas showed up at a New England boarding school and was shocked, SHOCKED!, that there were no Cheerleaders or marching band.

I’m from Idaho and the lack of football and marching bands is even odd for me to try to grasp.

I was taking a shower a moment ago and thinking about boarding school and where I’m planning to apply for next year and I was actually thinking, “Do any boarding schools have a marching band?”

On another note, I’m watching Law and Order SVU and the father from Full House is playing some one. It’s kind of creepy.

Sorry…back on topic. I’m kind of glad with the thought that very few boarding schools have cheerleaders.

^ Homecoming is a huge thing here. It might be odd switching. A tradition across the state is to make the first letter of the school’s name out of wood and burn it after the game.

I predict a little culture shock being experienced next year…

I’d give up Marching Band/Homecoming for BS.

If only I had managed to apply for this year. Ah well, repeat year might help me out more.

Most all New England Prep schools have Fall Family Days, the equivalent of homecoming.

Families sit in on classes on Friday and attend presentations.

Friday night is alive with various arts performances.

On Saturdays, all the teams have home games, so families are spread out all over the campus, seeing their own kids play. At prep school, people don’t watch sports, they play sports. At most regular season games, there are few spectator because most parents live far far away.

Then everyone scatters for a long weekend, with students not due back until Monday night.

There is usually another long/ family weekend in winter or spring.
