I got placed into a double in Markley Hall. Is this a good residence hall?

Markley is pretty nice. They have some of the smallest rooms on campus but the location is really good (close to mojo dining hall) and the atmosphere is friendly, from what I can tell.

Markley has the smallest rooms for sure, but it’s an all-freshman dorm and definitely a party dorm. My friend had a blast in it (although she said she’d never live there again haha).

markley is definetly small and not the nicest dorm…it all depends on what u want…i have a baits single if u are interested in switching to a nicer dorm with a different feel

I stayed there over the summer once when I was in high school. It’s right by the arb, which is nice and it also has a good place to eat called the ‘hideaway’ in the basement. For regular meals, you might want to go to mojo since it has the most options and is only like a block away. It’s also right by the UM hospital if you are premed or into volunteering.

The Markley Hideway is sinfully delicious for snacks (used to get their onion rings whenever I visited my friend). Markley also has its own dining hall which isn’t bad, but my friend loved their Make Your Own Pizza station. As pancakes mentioned, Mojo is pretty close and it has one of the better dining halls on campus imo.

Markley has small rooms, and has a pretty big social scene since it is all freshmen. But from what i heard from others, it’s old, small, smells, and the food wasn’t all that great. But it could be different for you, it really depends on your tastes. Plus it’s really not that close to all the central classes even if it is a central dorm.

If anyone in Markley is willing to switch into a double in Bursley, which I hear has bigger rooms, the best food, and a great atmosphere, please let me know!! I will pay a lot of money to switch rooms

^ lol that seems to be a pretty poor advertisement

haha I’m just saying if anyone wants to switch, I would pay a lot of money to be on the hill.

I lived in Markley last year and loved it. The rooms may be smaller, but if you make the most of your space it really isn’t bad at all. The Hideaway is amazing and I loved going there. It’s really a great location too as most first years have the majority of their classes on central campus.

i heard markley is really small and really hard to get work done in. not such a great dorm. i hav a double in bursley if you want it. i hear north campus is a much nicer environment that allows you to actually experience college better. anyway i just want markley cuz my roomate is in markley, so im willing to giv up the better dorm to get to my roomate

Markley is awesome. The social scene is great, and though it can be hard to get work done, that is what the LIBRARY is for. If you’re in Markley next year, be ecstatic.

if your trading Markely for any north campus, you should be able to get a good sum of money for the deal(even though its against rules, it happens), so ignore dahouse

How much cash are you guys talking about exactly? O_O

And how small/loud is Markley anyways? I’m in a substance free room.

yeah got markeley too. I’ve been there before and I’ve also eaten at mojo before. The fact that you only have to walk a block to the best and most varied food on campus is a great plus. Plus its a party dorm like others said. The downside is that the rooms are awfully small and awful for studying. You’ll find me at the library when its study time. There is no way in hell that I’m going to be able to concentrate in a room like markeley’s.

Dam yeah, im in engineering too. I guess I’ll be in the library more than my dorm, oh well.

If you think studying in Markley is bad, try first floor UGLi
