iluvpiano, congratulations on the scholarships. We have the double degree for Illinois Wesleyan. Would you also do a double degree with history at Concordia?

LBflutemom, congratulations to you and your daughter. Is the Crane acceptance a dual major situation or are two separate degrees involved?

OK, I’ve been holding off on this, but here it is…

Imagep’s S was accepted to:
Furman University (BM Ed) - no word on scholarship

University of South Carolina (BM, performance or education, they placed him into “performance level” applied music classes)- promise of a a scholarhip offer by end of month

Western Carolina University, (BM Music and BS Ed duel degree program) - no word of scholarship

Coastal Carolina University (BA Music) - $8,000 music scholarship

We are so excited that he was “4 for 4”. Now I am second guessing our choices, think that maybe he could have gotten into a higher level school. We really didn’t expect him to get into Furman because of his grades and test scores - it’s quite obvious to us that the music department used some “pull” to get him in.

The Furman acceptance was posted online, we had to log in to see it. I’m just hoping it wasn’t a mistake or something (like maybe they were just testing the system) as it wasn’t supposed to be posted until 5pm.

@imagep, congrats! And it’s funny how all of us tend doubt our good news. (Could it be a mistake? Of course not… but take a screen shot to cover all bases.)

I actually did print it out just to make sure I wasn’t imagining things - I really didn’t expect him to be accepted there. I should have done a screen shot also.

D was accepted to San Francisco Conservatory of Music for BM Performance (Voice) via email. Email stated financial aid/scholarship letter will follow within 10 days. Fingers crossed.

My daughter was accepted at her “safety” school, Texas State in San Marcos for the BM-Performance (trombone) program. Texas State has a fine trombone studio and they are actively courting her, which is always nice. [School of Music : Texas State University](http://www.music.txstate.edu/) I think she’d like to be further away from home at a school with a stronger symphonic program. If she were jazz trombone, it would be ideal.

She is waiting to hear from Manhattan School of Music (she had her best audition there, which made me proud!), Vanderbilt’s Blair School of Music, and University of Houston’s Moores School of Music. She played well at all three. All of these schools are very different, but all offer solid trombone instruction and a myriad of playing opportunities, and she said she would be happy at any of them.

BassDad, we found out this week that D also got into LSA at the University of Michigan. She applied dual degree, LSA major undecided. Also, I wish to clarify that the degree at UCLA is a BA in music, with a concentration in performance. Not sure why there is no BM there as several other UC’s have it.

And on behalf of everyone waiting for Northwestern: Earth to Planet Purple, come in please!!

Dear daughter just learned she was also accepted to the master’s of music program in clarinet performance at University of Southern California. Still waiting to hear from Manhattan. And no info yet on scholarships from USC or Northwestern.
