Master List of Music School Acceptances, Fall 2011

Congrats to all Oberlin acceptances so far. Email on a Sunday: that’s a nice surprise–it’s Spring Break there, so admissions must be working OT!

what I don’t like is they seem to have only emailed accepted students, at least if I didn’t get in i’d like some notification, instead of waiting for snail mail to say i didn’t get in

D accepted to Oberlin for flute performance w/ $10,000 merit scholarship

18karat: my heart goes out to everyone who did not get an email, including my D. I am here with hankies and tea for her. Oh and well a couple of doors need to be re-hung.
What a hard life you kids have chosen. I for sure could not do this. I am amazed at the passion all you musicians have. Please do not let this discourage you. Hopefully everyone who did not get the email still has some great options. Hugs to all. And congratulations to all who are IN!

so…you’re assuming that means we’re not in? that’s some serious BS…I’m not taking anything seriously until I get it in the mail though

18karat, I agree. In these days of instant communication it seems cruel to leave some students hanging. It is not as if those accepted are receiving their emails in isolation. It would not take much more effort to email the students who were not accepted or who were wait-listed. And it would be less expensive than a printed postal mailing. Colleges should rethink their notifications policies.

edit: Not receiving an email today doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re not admitted. Several NYU students reported that they did not receive email, but when they logged into the web portal they found their positive answer. Also, the results may be released according to instrument or alphabetically.

Like I said, i’m not making any postulations or anything, i’ll probably know by tomorrow anyhow. I’m a jazz guitarist and it’s probably one of the smallest in many programs, I assume they probably only accepted 6 or so probably less, and the odds are decently stacked. Although it’s probably my top choice, now that I know Berklee is kind of out of the picture financially I’m holding on for Oberlin because of their gratuitous financial aid, and I love it. But I do have a couple schools that seem very adamant at having me attend, so my efforts have not gone fruitless.

The Oberlin Admissions has definitely been working overtime, and it is much appreciated by everyone here, I am sure of that!

Thought I’d come back and let all know that after much frustration, my son has been accepted to Berklee for the fall in guitar. Yay!

this week I was accepted at Jacobs at IU, accepted at Thornton at USC, waitlisted at University of Mich and denied at Rice…it has been a long wait!!

piano major

accepted to oberlin, piano performance! I’m surprised they sent us a nice email for notification.

Congratulations to a2flutemom and D, lmattheney and Son, IUPA2010 and bam7piano.

18 karat, I hope you mean generous, not gratuitous financial aid. Although I suppose the latter would be nice as well.

Imattheny, thank goodness you finally got an answer, and it’s the right one!

Righto, it’s been 10 days of spring break, my vocabulary is on the slide ;)

son accepted to Oberlin Conservatory in Piano Performance!

Congratulations once again to Pianofam and Son.

Son got accepted to Western Michigan University for BM in trombone performance. After two years of classical study in their instrument, a student may then formally specialize in Jazz Studies.

I’ve been accepted to Oberlin (16k scholarship) and San Francisco Conservatory for BM in bassoon performance :)

well here is an update. D got a 7k performing / talent scholarship at hartt, a 2k commonwealth music scholarship at UMass (AMHERST), a 6k ( Presidents out of state 5k and a dept 1k Music) from SUNY FREDONIA. still waiting to hear from NYU and UConn aid package. Hoping they will come soon - viola

Has anyone received their official acceptance letter from Indiana U’s Jacobs School of Music yet? Also, has anyone been notified of music scholarship there? My son was verbally told he has a spot in a studio but has not received any of the above.
