Master List of Music School Acceptances, Fall 2011

There is no instrument required for the composition degree. So there is no specified instrument. Just BM composition.

I’m not sure if this is applicable in the music major forum, but I was accepted at Harvard today! I did apply to the dual degree with NEC, but I am doubtful I will get into that (still no word from NEC). However, there is still a good chance I’d consider attending Harvard for a BA Music and study privately with a Boston teacher.

allegrovivace, congrats.

It’s been our policy to include all music majors. Doesn’t matter if it’s an LAC, university program, or conservatory. BA, BM, BFA, or even an AA doesn’t make a difference. Where we draw the line is at listing a music minor (declared or not), or if you were attending a school for a purely academic non-music pursuit.

Let us know about the NEC joint affiliation when you hear. For now, we’ll list it as a BA music at Harvard.

Accepted as trombone performance major/scholarship per year to:
Oberlin/$16000
CIM/$11000
U of Wis Madison/$5000
Luther/$2000U of MN/$3000 (wish it were greater - not sure what to do)
Ohio State almost a full ride
U North TX almost a full ride
Still waiting on IU.

D received acceptances from her last three schools for BM Vocal Performance: Oberlin, MSM, and Juilliard! Still waiting on financial info from a few schools…

jawoodruff, in that case is there something that we can list as your primary instrument (voice counts) even though no instrument was required for the degree? Many composers use an instrument of some sort when writing their music…

MNMOMOFTWO, given your screen name I would like to confirm whether it was you or perhaps a son or daughter that received the acceptances you report. Also, can you tell me whether Luther was $2000 or $3000 and give me an idea of what you mean by “almost a full ride”. If you wish, you can PM me with the numbers and I can add them in anonymously to the statistics so that nobody will be able to associate them with your name. Without at least an approximate number, I will have to leave those two scholarships off our spreadsheet entirely because the definition of “almost” can vary quite a bit.

Congratulations to mezzomom11 and daughter, as well as to MNMOMOFTWO and possibly their son or daughter.

My D has been accepted at CIM, Yale, and Juilliard for MM Music Performance (viola).

Congratulations to tomdug and daughter.

My R got the official email acceptance from BoCo for BM in Classical Voice today. We are excited for him! No word on financials. They say that will come with the snail mail package. Still waiting to hear from two more schools.

Sorry! I meant my “S”!

As SoundMom, I’m very curious about the origins of the name HearingDad. Are you an audiologist? judge? concert goer? something entirely different?

Your first guess was a good one! I am in the hearing aid field :)

What about you, SoundMom? Hearing? Recording? Performing?

Just wanted to let you know that my daughter will be attending Crane in the fall! Congratulations to everyone on this thread, good luck next year… enjoy every minute!

S received acceptance e-mail from SUNY Stony Brook today for a BA in Music (viola), now that all the results are in, he’s decided on SUNY Fredonia!!! Good Luck everyone and thanks for all the helpful information through the years. It’s sure been a whirlwind!

@HearingDad - I have a son in theatre school studying sound design, I live near a sound, and I’m a speech pathologist. It seemed an appropriate name on many levels. Someone suggested I make sound decisions, but there is no evidence of that yet…

D accepted at Juilliard for a B.M. in harp performance!!!

Congrats to HearingDad, MamaPajama, yorkiemom and their respective offspring.

LBFlutemom, good luck to your D.

tomdug, I can remember when we first crossed paths. D has some fine choices. Good luck to her.

Congrat! All who accepted!
Bassdad, your work is great!
