Master List of Music School Acceptances, Fall 2012

Congratulations to musictwins and son and daughter, Mater and daughter, and anothermezzomom and daughter.

anothermezzomom, it seems pretty obvious that this is for vocal Performance, but please let me know if that is incorrect.

Hi, first post but I’ve been reading this thread religiously since I first discovered it waiting for D during auditions in Feb. Congratulations to all who have heard from schools and hang in there to all waiting (I’m one of those, too). The end of this journey (waiting to hear from schools) is near and our new journey is just around the corner.

D accepted at UMich dual degree for BM violin performance and BA (school of lit, sci and arts).

It is indeed vocal performance

@anothermezzomom – WOW! Those are some impressive acceptances and scholarships! Congratulations to your D (and you)!

Don’t worry about Rice, they accept so few people into the program. My D was denied about a year ago and she is at Juilliard right now.

Congratulations to violinmimi and daughter. Does she have any idea what the non-music major will be?

Son got into McGill, BM-Composition, Concentration, Classical Guitar. Overjoyed!

Very nice VMT! Congrats!

VMT, That is wonderful. congratulations!
And everyone else as well!

Congrats, VMT!

DS was accepted at the Hartt School, BM in music management program. He got a $12,000 talent award.

I was accepted to Ithaca College for the Bachelor of Music in Combination w/ an Outside Field and Gettysburg College/Conservatory for a B.A. in Music.

Accepted to Western Michigan University for double bass performance!

Oh, and I auditioned on voice!

Congratulations to VMT and son, electricbassmom and son, betc27 and bassgirl15.

betc27, if you have chosen an Outside Field, please let us know what it is.

The Lawrence package arrived today, a little worse for wear, after what I am sure were thrilling encounters with the Chicago post office.

S was accepted into the dual degree BA (Physics) and BM (Trumpet Performance/ Jazz) program. He received a Warch Scholarship for $18,000, and a $2000 Community Engagement scholarship for his freshman year, and was offered three years of Tuition Exchange, beginning his sophomore year–the school where I work is part of a Tuition Exchange consortium.

I imagine that Lawrence will end up being his final choice, but he is waiting for Oberlin before committing.

Congratulations to trumpetguysmom and son.

I am a little unclear about the acceptance at Lawrence. Is he in the Jazz & Improv program, the classical brass program (which also throws in a little Jazz along with everything else) or somehow doing both?

Congrats, Trumpetguysmom! At Lawrence they do not have jazz studies majors; they have performance majors with a jazz and improvisational music emphasis.

There seem to be two options that include at least some Jazz at Lawrence. The Brass dept. at [Brass - Lawrence University](http://lawrence.edu/conservatory/dept/brass/) mentions “solo, chamber, brass, jazz, and orchestral literature” while the degree that PianoMan12 mentions is listed at [Jazz and Improvisational Music - Lawrence University](http://lawrence.edu/conservatory/dept/jazz/)

What PianoMan12 said. He will be majoring in Performance, with the Jazz and Improvisational emphasis. His instrument is trumpet.

I knew I should have looked it up first. :P

my outside field is anthropology. i think that’s where i’ll be going!
