Match, Slight Reach, or Major Reach???

My stats
act=29 (1st time, but will retake hoping for 30 or above)
satII us history(700) chemistry (730)
10 ap (Most rigorous possible) (scored mostly 4 and a few 5)by end of senior year (mostly A and A-) AP scholar with distinction
GPA=4.15/4.0

cello player since 4ht grade, amnesty international (10,11,12), math team(11, 12) nhs (11,12) volunteer at hospital(11,12) tutor children(10,11,12), led a mandatory class of about 20 students (only leadership)
first generation college person, biracial (asian caucasion), disadvantaged (low income, parent at mental hospital, divorced, all happened during high school but managed to keep up my grades)

Do I have a chance??

I'd say that Wellesley is a great match for you. Your record looks excellent :).

You should consider also taking the SAT I if you haven't. Some people do better on it than the ACT (like me).

i already took the sat, it seems that the act is easier for me, but i will take the sat and act for the 2nd time this fall. do you agree about my chances?

It seems to me like you would have a good chance at getting in... Based on people who have applied from my school, grades seem to be the most important thing, and your grades are strong. I recommend applying early evaluation: it's non-binding and no extra cost (though I think it has a slightly earlier deadline than the regulation application): in February you receive letter saying whether you're unlikely, possible, or likely to get in.

i am really confused. I posted my stats on the chances forum, and most people seem to agree that wellesely would be a reach for me. I was wondering if i could get more opinions on this thread.

Wellesley is a reach for everyone. It is a very difficult school to get into and there is no way anyone here can predict with certainty your chances.

Why not look on the Wellesley College website and check out what stats they cite? I think the ACT range is 27-31. Looking at your chances with objective data is a far better route than having people give you their best guess.
