Which is harder? What's the difference?

You need a higher placement test score to get into 19A, so I would assume it's a more difficult class, yes/no?

I'm a proposed bio major, so I do have a choice between the two. However, math is not my subject, and I don't want to get stuck in a class that will be impossible for me to pass...

If you are a proposed bio major and aren’t very strong in math I suggest you go with Math 11A. Math 11A is designed mainly for bio majors while Math 19A is designed mainly for engineering majors. both teach basic calculus but since engineering is more math-based than bio is it is a more difficult class I believe and probably goes more in depth.

The best professors tend to teach the higher math series. For me, that is enough to push me into 19A. Personally, I’d rather be in a class with bright students who are engineers or top students in the liberal arts majors. Doing well in the 19 series definitely gives you a leg up over your peers who picked the “easy math.”

I took 19a/b and the classes were not too hard and very straight forward. As long as you do your homework and make a good effort to understand the material, you will get a B.

Thanks!
I ended up signing up for 19A :)
