<p>So I was chosen to be practically last in my group at freshman orientation, so I got literally none of the classes I wanted. </p>
<p>I plan on waitlisting Math 17 A and Chem 2 on pass 2, and was just wondering what the chances are for me getting in to either of the classes. I qualified for Chem 2AH but decided not to take it since I only passed the Chem test with a 33/44. As far as I know, there are still seats open for that class, so I was wondering whether or not I should take it despite it being my first quarter and all…</p>
<p>I am in Math 21A and I’m planning on transferring to Math 17A. So I will also be waitlisting for that class during Pass 2. I wouldn’t worry too much about it. There are just as many people wanting to leave as the number of people wanting to get in. And plus we have pass 1 so people from each orientation has a fair chance. Whatever is left over after the last orientation will be up for takes. I got into Chem 2A with a 23/44. So the standards aren’t awfully high for Chem 2A. If you want a nice challenge in the fall, you should definitely take Chem 2AH. If you don’t feel ready, you always have 2nd quarter to decide. First quarter is really to just experiment with everything. In my opinion, you should take chem 2AH if you’ve had chemistry during your senior year. Even better if you took AP Chem and got a good score. Also another thought. The placement test wasn’t really a true indicator of your true skill in chemistry because it had basic questions that anyone can study a night for and do well, but do horribly in the class in the fall. The questions consisted of basic balance equations and molarity. The test would’ve been super easy if some casual studying was involved. It’s like giving us the precalculus placement test. The stuff on that test really does not correlate to the math you will see in Math 16/17/21. And I find that to be obvious because in highschool, everything you learned in precalc went out the window if you took calculus the following year, with the exception of basic trig functions and the unit circle.</p>
<p>Just out of curiosity, are you from L&S? And are you planning to transfer to college of bio?</p>
<p>Soooo…you have a pretty good chance of getting into Chem 2 and Math 17A, but probably not the BEST time you’d like. AND you should take Chem 2AH if you feel you are good at chemistry. For me, I’m too rusty to be taking chem honors. But you also have a lot of time to decide, too. Good luck monkeyaround!</p>
<p>I passed with a 33, but the orientation leader said that they recommend 2AH for those who got a 40 or above, so that seems like a stretch. I took AP Chem as a junior, so it’s been a while. I was looking online and saw that there was a 19 unit limit to waitlisting, and I actually have no idea what that means. I am in the Aggie college and want to transfer to bio… so yay</p>
<p>Aggie college? what? Okay so I think you can only waitlist up to 19units worth of classes. So you can’t waitlist like 100 classes and bump everyone down the list when you aren’t even going to be taking those classes anyway. So I guess Chem 2A then! Maybe I’ll see you there. The leaders did say that the series intensifies over time, so it’s not like you’re missing out on important material. you’ll eventually learn everything by 2C.</p>
<p>Me too. I want 2A at a different time. The only spots open are 2AH on sisweb right now so it is a little bit discouraging considering I saw some 2A spots open a week ago. I am also hoping to switch into 17A and no spots seem open now.</p>
<p>I’m in the college of agriculture. Yeahh I might just end up signing up for 2ah pass two and waitlisting 2a</p>
<p>My biggest fear is not getting 17A. I’d rather not take the 21 series. Also, why sign up for 2AH? Are you signing up for honors as a back up?</p>
